The German Bundesnetzagentur has reported another heavily oversubscribed tender for onshore wind in Germany, with award values continuing to decline. The latest onshore wind tender attracted 924 bids with a combined capacity of 7,858 MW, more than double the tendered volume of 3,445 MW.
This level of participation is broadly in line with the previous round. A total of 439 projects were awarded contracts, covering the full tendered capacity, while 24 bids were excluded. Award prices ranged between 5.19 ct/kWh and 5.64 ct/kWh. The volume-weighted average fell to 5.54 ct/kWh, down from 6.06 ct/kWh in the previous round, marking the lowest level since February 2018.
Most of the awarded capacity was allocated to projects in Lower Saxony, which accounted for 957 MW across 96 projects. This was followed by North Rhine-Westphalia with 661 MW (100 projects), Saxony-Anhalt with 438 MW (53 projects) and Brandenburg with 396 MW (60 projects). The southern states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg accounted for only around two per cent of the total awarded volume.
