Belgium updates offshore wind tender framework for Princess Elisabeth Zone

The Belgian federal government has approved a revised regulatory framework to relaunch the tender for the first site in the Princess Elisabeth Zone (PEZ 1). It has also set the latest commissioning date for the first phase of the Modular Offshore Grid II (MOG II) energy island. Germany reaches 10.8 GW of offshore wind capacity

At the end of June 2026, 1,764 offshore wind turbines with a combined capacity of 10.8 GW were in operation in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea. During the first half of 2026, 84 new turbines with a total capacity of 1,077 MW were connected to the grid. A further 22 turbines totalling 323 MW have been installed at the Borkum Riffgrund 3 and He Dreiht offshore wind farms and the Nordseecluster A project but have not yet entered operation. Final investment decisions (FIDs) have been taken for offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 2.6 GW. Another 17.5 GW of projects have been awarded contracts, but no FID has yet been completed.

Max Bögl completes concrete tower for high hybrid wind turbine

Max Bögl Wind has completed the concrete tower for its wind turbine at Winnberg near Sengenthal in Bavaria, Germany. The turbine is designed with a hub height of 199 metres and an overall height of 285 metres. The concrete section of the tower stands almost 108 metres high. The remaining construction work includes installation of the upper steel tower sections, the nacelle and the rotor.
