Ocean Breeze Energy takes over operation of alpha ventus

Ocean Breeze Energy (OBE) has completed the takeover of the company operating Germany’s first offshore wind farm, alpha ventus, and is integrating the project into its existing operations. The change of ownership also means that OBE’s management will lead Deutsche Offshore-Testfeld und Infrastruktur (DOTI), the company associated with the wind farm.
Germany revises offshore wind site development plan for the North Sea

Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) has published the second amendment to the 2025 Site Development Plan (FEP) for offshore wind. The changes include revised capacity densities, new site configurations and changes to the timing of selected sites in the German North Sea. In area N-10, the planned capacity densities have been reduced and a previously planned 2 GW site has been divided into two smaller sites. The total area has also been expanded from 195 km² to 259 km².
US Wind withdraws plans for turbine component manufacturing at Sparrows Point

US Wind has withdrawn its plans to develop a manufacturing facility for offshore wind turbine components at Sparrows Point in Baltimore County, Maryland, USA. US Wind had planned to manufacture steel components for offshore wind turbines at Tradepoint Atlantic, the industrial site at Sparrows Point. The facility was intended to support the offshore wind industry and create jobs in the region.
Scout Clean Energy signs power purchase agreement with Oracle for Texas wind farm

Topsides and jackets for two offshore substations depart for the German Baltic Sea

The topsides and jackets for OSS Zingst and OSS Darß have departed the Netherlands for installation in the Baltic Sea. The two offshore substations are part of OST-6-1 and will transmit electricity from the 927 MW Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm to the onshore grid.

US wind generation forecast to increase through 2027

Wind power generation in the USA is forecast to increase by 7.3% in 2026 and a further 4.8% in 2027, according to the latest forecast from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), analysed by the Sun Day Campaign. Wind is expected to generate 498 billion kilowatt-hours in 2026, up from 464 billion kilowatt-hours in 2025. Generation is forecast to reach 522 billion kilowatt-hours in 2027. Wind's share of total US electricity generation is projected to be about 11.3% in 2026 and 11.7% in 2027.
Cargill expands renewable electricity portfolio in central United States

Cargill is expanding its renewable electricity portfolio in the United States through wind and solar projects in Oklahoma and South Dakota. The company has entered into a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) for 87 MW of wind power from the Sweetland Wind project in South Dakota. The 12.6-year agreement is expected to generate approximately 392,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually.
