Huisman has launched Rope Vision, an automated visual inspection system developed to improve the reliability and safety of wire rope operations. Designed for wire ropes used in heavy-lift cranes operating under demanding conditions, Rope Vision supports data-driven maintenance planning. The system helps teams make informed decisions and minimise unplanned downtime.
The system combines high-resolution visual scans with crane-controlled usage data to assess the condition of wire ropes. It measures and analyses parameters such as lay length, diameter, broken wires, and protrusions, providing a severity rating based on ISO 4309 standards. Rope Vision offers a 360-degree view of the wire rope using 4 high-speed cameras and can scan at a rate of up to 45 metres per minute. It is suitable for wire ropes with diameters between 50 and 72 millimetres.
