From pre-construction energy analysis to operation and maintenance (O&M) diagnostics, representing power output as a function of wind speed is both intuitive and physically significant. For example, power curves are often required as part of the contractual conditions for transferring wind farm ownership. Power curve studies are also used to find the causes of an underperforming turbine.
