Germany permitted 4,150 MW of wind energy in the first quarter of 2025 alone. Notably, the average permitting time has dropped to just 18 months, making Germany the only country currently meeting the European Union’s 24-month permitting deadline for new wind farms.
In the first quarter, Germany installed close to 1 GW of wind capacity. Around 30% was attributed to repowering. Vestas, Enercon, and Nordex each accounted for roughly 30% of turbines installed, while GE Vernova supplied the remainder.
