South Korea has selected 1,786 MW of offshore wind projects in its first-half 2026 fixed-price contract competitive auction, with five projects awarded out of a total of nine bidders representing 3,656 MW. Fixed-bottom offshore wind accounted for 1,254 MW of selected capacity, significantly above the previous year’s annual total of 689 MW. Floating offshore wind also returned to the auction, with one project of 532 MW selected from three bids.
The following projects have been selected in this round:
Fixed-bottom Projects:
- Haesong 3 (504 MW) | CIP | Turbine: SG 14MW
- Hanbit (340 MW) | MyungWoon / B-grim | Turbine: Unison 13.6MW
- Guleopdo (250 MW) | C&I Leisure / SK Eternix / Daewoo E&C | Turbine: Doosan 10MW
Floating Offshore Wind:
- Haewoori 2 (532 MW) | CIP | Turbine: SG 14MW
Public-led Initiatives:
- Geumodo (160 MW) | DL Energy / KOMIPO | Turbine: Doosan 10MW
The government plans to strengthen post-award monitoring to ensure delivery of local manufacturing, technology transfer, certification and supply chain participation commitments. It also intends to assess security aspects of critical systems such as turbines and control systems in cooperation with relevant agencies.
The ministry is also preparing a long-term offshore wind auction roadmap covering the period from 2026 to 2035 to improve market visibility and support investment in infrastructure and supply chains.
