Nexans has been selected as preferred supplier by Red Eléctrica for the Mallorca–Menorca 3 interconnection project in Spain’s Balearic Islands. The project aims to improve electricity supply security and strengthen the resilience of the regional power system.
The agreement will initiate a six-month engineering phase for a new 132 kV high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) cable link between Mallorca and Menorca. The work will cover the design of a cable system incorporating both subsea and onshore infrastructure and is intended to provide the basis for a future engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract.
