Oracle has announced investments in more than 1.7 GW of wind energy generation across ten projects in Texas. The projects will supply electricity to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid, which powers Oracle’s Abilene facility.
The projects, involving suppliers including Clearway Energy, Engie, RWE and Scout Clean Energy, are expected to generate enough electricity each year to equal the consumption of more than 525,000 USA homes. The investments will support Oracle’s target of matching 100% of the electricity used by its current artificial intelligence data centres in Texas with carbon-free electricity.
