Deme Offshore has officially named its new offshore wind turbine installation vessel, Norse Wind. Equipped with a 3,200-ton crane, the vessel is designed to transport and install next-generation wind turbines and XXL monopiles in water depths of up to 70 metres. It can carry either four 20 MW turbines or six 15 MW turbines.
The design includes a hybrid power plant and a 4.2 MWh battery system to manage energy peaks and reduce the load on diesel engines.
The naming ceremony was held at the Port of Oslo. Norse Wind will soon begin operations in the North Sea, where it is scheduled to transport and install Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines at projects including the Nordseecluster, a joint development by RWE and Norges Bank Investment Management.
Construction of the vessel began in 2023 under Havfram, which was acquired by Deme in April 2025.
