Ukraine’s 700 MW auction for support for new wind power projects attracted 93 bids from nine companies, with a combined proposed capacity of more than 1.22 GW. The auction allocated an annual support quota of 700 MW for wind generation.
It was organised by Guaranteed Buyer, which conducts auctions for support for new renewable generation on behalf of the state. The auction used a multi-winner format, with bids ranked according to their offered electricity price.
The submitted capacities totalled more than 1.7 times the available quota. Price bids ranged from €0.0298 to €0.0759/kWh, compared with a maximum permitted bid of €0.08/kWh
The auction forms part of Ukraine’s 2026 renewable energy support programme. The government has allocated a total of 1 GW of support for new renewable energy projects this year, including 700 MW for wind generation, with support provided through a market-premium mechanism.
The government updated the auction rules in August, including changes to financial guarantees and the time allowed for confirming connection of projects to the electricity grid.
