Enercon, together with financing partners, has launched the Enercon Finance Solutions Fund, offering mezzanine loans to operators developing new projects with Enercon wind turbines, refinancing existing wind farms or seeking to release equity capital.
The fund provides loans of up to € 10 million per project. The financing can reduce the amount of equity required and provide additional liquidity, while allowing operators to retain ownership and control of their projects.
Mezzanine loans are a form of long-term debt that sits between traditional bank financing and equity. They are generally subordinated to senior bank debt and do not give investors ownership or voting rights in the project. This can provide an additional source of capital alongside conventional project financing.
The fund forms part of the Enercon Renewable Energy Fund S.A., SICAV-RAIF umbrella fund. MEAG, the asset manager of Munich Re Group, is the anchor investor, providing long-term capital.
Project-specific investment assessments and portfolio management are carried out by Mountstreet as delegated portfolio manager. Universal Investment Luxembourg acts as the regulated Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM), while investments are made through the Debt Marketplace issuance vehicle managed by BKN Capital.
