ematec has added a rental option for its RBC-D rotor blade yokes and introduced a new Diagonal Pull Sensor (DPS) system for crane operations. The company has also developed a blade turning device for handling rotor blades during repair and maintenance work.
The RBC-D yokes, which are designed for single-blade installation, are now available for hire as well as purchase. The system uses an adaptive blade gripping system designed to handle rotor blades from different manufacturers and can accommodate blades weighing up to 50 tonnes.
The new DPS is a two-axis side-pull sensor system designed to monitor the position of crane loads during lifting operations. The battery-powered sensor and ground unit communicate wirelessly over a range of up to 200 metres, while a display provides angle readings on the X and Y axes. Data can also be transmitted via Wi-Fi to a tablet.
The system can be used during rotor blade installation to help operators determine when a yoke is positioned correctly before releasing it from a blade. The system is intended to reduce the risk of uncontrolled movement during this part of the lifting operation.
