The UK government has granted development consent for the 1.5 GW Outer Dowsing offshore wind project, located approximately 54 km off the Lincolnshire coast. The project is being developed by a consortium comprising TotalEnergies, Corio Generation and Arabian Gulf for Water and Energy Development.
It will include up to 100 turbines and new onshore transmission infrastructure, with a substation planned at Surfleet Marsh to connect the project to the UK grid. Seabed rights were awarded under the UK Round 4 leasing process. The decision follows an extended examination period that allowed additional time for consultation and review. The overall investment is estimated at around GBP 2 billion, with more than 1,000 jobs expected during construction.
