Vattenfall and Nscale have signed a long-term renewable power purchase agreement covering the first phase of Nscale’s data centre development in Kvandal, northern Norway. Nscale, formerly Aker Nscale, develops and operates artificial intelligence infrastructure for companies and governments.
The Kvandal site is planned to have an initial capacity of 230 MW, with potential for further expansion. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2027 using 100 per cent renewable electricity. The agreement will supply renewable power to the facility through to 2031.
