Verdian, an independent power producer within Nuveen Infrastructure’s Clean Energy Fund IV, plans to add more than 900 MW of new capacity in Italy following the acquisition of three projects that combine battery storage and wind power.
The first asset is a standalone battery storage project of 90 MW in Campania. Two additional standalone battery projects in Puglia will provide a further 190 MW, with construction planned for 2026 and commissioning expected by late 2027.
Verdian has also acquired an onshore wind portfolio of up to 493 MW, supported by 144 MW of associated storage. Developed by Gruppo Hope, the six projects are located in Lazio, Puglia and Tuscany and are expected to reach ready-to-build status in 2027.
The company now has about 3 GW of projects at different stages of development, originating both internally and through acquisitions.
