Cowi has been appointed by Shetland Islands Council to conduct a Feasibility Study and Concept Design (RIBA Stage 2) for a potential district heating scheme in Brae, Shetland.
The study will evaluate the feasibility of using renewable energy, including a dedicated wind turbine, to power the heating network. The Brae District Heating Scheme could deliver low-carbon heating to one of the larger settlements on Shetland’s mainland. The feasibility study and concept design are set for completion by June 2025, with construction expected to begin soon after.
