The German Offshore Wind Energy Association (BWO) has elected Benedikt Scheel as its new chairman. Korbinian Ott of Steelwind Nordenham and Till Schwarzlose of RWE Offshore have been elected as deputy chairmen, while Lena Büsing of Merkur Offshore has been appointed treasurer. The board members will serve a two-year term.
Scheel, managing director and head of policy and regulation Germany Power at Equinor, was elected at the BWO's annual general meeting on 8 September.
Ott is commercial managing director at Steelwind Nordenham, while Schwarzlose is director development EU at RWE Offshore. Büsing is managing director of Merkur Offshore.
The election marks the end of the previous board's term. Irina Lucke, managing director of Omexom Renewable Energies Offshore and head of its offshore division, had served as BWO chairwoman since 2024, having previously been deputy chairwoman for two years.
Deputy chairmen Till Frohloff, managing director at Nordsee One, and Holger Matthiesen, director offshore wind and green hydrogen at Luxcara, have also left the board. Former treasurer Jörg Kubitza stepped down from the board in July following a move to a different sector.
The members' meeting also received the outgoing board's annual report and formally discharged the board from its responsibilities for the past financial year.
