Heerema Marine Contractors is establishing an engineering hub in Porto, Portugal, through its newly formed Heerema Portugal Lda. The Porto hub will become part of Heerema’s global engineering network, working with its headquarters in Leiden, the Netherlands, and offices in London, Houston, Singapore and Villahermosa. It will also support the company’s fleet of heavy-lift crane vessels involved in offshore projects.
Engineers and specialists in Porto will support offshore energy projects throughout their lifecycle, from tender support and conceptual engineering to detailed installation planning and execution. Areas of work will include:
- Offshore wind: Installation of monopile foundations and offshore substations.
- Marine infrastructure: Transport and installation of large offshore structures.
- Decommissioning: Removal of offshore platforms at the end of their operational life.
Initial recruitment will focus on Technical Project Managers, Installation Engineers, Structural Engineers, Technical Draughtsman and Human Resources professionals. Eight senior specialists from Heerema’s offices in Leiden and Houston will initially support the Porto team.
