Restech, a developer of pneumatic line throwers, is introducing a new system designed to meet growing demands for flexibility in towing and mooring operations for Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) in the offshore wind sector.
A scale model of the Remote Launcher TI will be displayed at WindEurope 2025 on the Viking Life-Saving Equipment stand. The modular system includes a remotely triggered launcher that integrates with an emergency towline to form a fixed line thrower unit.
The solution has been partly driven by Norway’s Ocean Charger consortium, which is working on technologies to support the transition of SOVs to zero-emission battery power. A key aim is to enable offshore recharging, avoiding the need for vessels to return to port. In this scenario, the launcher system sends a line from the charging point to the vessel, with the line lifted from the water.
