Smulders Projects has partnered with Argon Measuring Solutions to integrate advanced Shopfloor Measurement Solutions into its transition piece production facility in Hoboken, Belgium. The approach embeds measurement directly into the manufacturing process rather than treating it as a final inspection step.
The integrated system combines Argon’s Flangescan and Weldscan technologies with automated workflows and digital reporting. This enables continuous measurement during production, improving accuracy, consistency and traceability while reducing reliance on manual processes.
By incorporating metrology into daily operations, Smulders has standardised measurement procedures across teams and shifts, while reducing variability and rework. The system also supports earlier detection of deviations during fabrication, contributing to more predictable production of offshore wind components.
The implementation reflects a broader move in offshore wind manufacturing towards integrated, data-driven production processes for large-scale structures such as transition pieces.
