Construction has begun on the operations and maintenance (O&M) base for the 1.1 GW Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm at Montrose Port in Angus, Scotland. The project already has its marine coordination centre at the port and is expanding its presence with new permanent facilities.
Local contractor Pert Bruce Construction is building the O&M office, a 600 m² warehouse, quayside facilities, and communications systems. The company will also deliver a 70-metre floating pontoon and quayside cranes. Completion of the new base and pontoons is scheduled for early 2027.
Inch Cape holds a 15-year O&M contract with turbine supplier Vestas, and both project and supplier teams will be based in the new facilities. Around 50 long-term jobs are expected to be created, including turbine technicians and support staff.
The wind farm will consist of 72 Vestas 15 MW turbines and a single offshore substation, installed at the North Sea site in August. Onshore substation and landfall works are progressing in Cockenzie, East Lothian. First power is expected in late 2026, with commercial operation in 2027.
Inch Cape is jointly owned by ESB and Red Rock Renewables.
