UK Government approves Rampion 2 Offshore Wind Farm

The UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband MP, has granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the Rampion 2 Offshore Wind Farm, which is being developed off the coast of Sussex. The project, an extension of the existing Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, is being led by RWE on behalf of its joint venture partners.
Octopus acquires 10% stake in East Anglia One offshore wind farm

Octopus Energy Generation has acquired a 10% stake in the East Anglia One offshore wind farm. The 714 MW wind farm is located 43 kilometres off the Suffolk coast in eastern England and has been operational since 2021, comprising 102 wind turbines.
WestfalenWind orders 20 Enercon turbines for projects in North Rhine-Westphalia

WestfalenWind has signed a contract with Enercon for the supply of 20 E-175 EP5 wind turbines, each with a capacity of approximately 6 MW, for wind energy projects in Bad Berleburg and Erndtebrück in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district of Germany. The order also includes two transformer stations.
RWE tests offshore rescue procedures at Nordsee Ost wind farm

RWE has conducted an offshore rescue exercise at its Nordsee Ost wind farm off the coast of Heligoland, putting its emergency response procedures to the test under real-world conditions. The six-hour drill involved the temporary suspension of operations and the simulation of multiple rescue scenarios involving injured technicians.
Vard to build new subsea operations vessel for Dong Fang Offshore

Vard, the Norwegian subsidiary of the Fincantieri Group, has announced the signing of a new contract with Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) for the design and construction of an offshore subsea operations vessel. The agreement includes an option for additional vessels.

Abukuma wind farm reaches commercial operation in Fukushima

GE Vernova’s onshore wind division has announced that the Abukuma wind farm has started generating electricity following the achievement of its commercial operation date (COD). The 147 MW project features 46 onshore wind turbines, each rated at 3.2 MW with a 103-metre rotor diameter.
Alterric awarded contracts for 178.66 MW in German onshore wind auction

Onshore wind power producer Alterric has secured approvals for 178.66 MW across seven wind farm projects in the Federal Network Agency’s auction for onshore wind energy in Germany.
