Precision flange milling introduced for Vestas 15 MW turbine towers

CNC Onsite has delivered its custom-built Goliath milling machine to tower manufacturer Welcon, where it is now in use machining 97 bottom tower flanges for Vestas' 15 MW V236 turbines. The turbines are intended for offshore wind projects in Germany and the Netherlands.
Cadeler expands fleet with acquisition of new jack-up vessel

Cadeler has announced the acquisition of the Boqiang 3060 , a newly built jack-up wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV), from Shanghai Boqiang Heavy Industry Group. The vessel, which will be renamed Wind Keeper , is intended to strengthen Cadeler’s fleet and support the growing global demand for offshore wind turbine operations and maintenance.

BW Ideol awared design certification for 15MW+ floating wind platform

DNV has awarded Basic Design certification to BW Ideol for its 15MW+ floating wind platform. The platform, designed to support wind turbine generators in the 14 to 16MW range and scalable up to 22MW, is intended for a broad range of metocean conditions, from moderate to more challenging environments.
VSB connects Racibórz wind farm to the grid in Poland

Operations have successfully started at another wind farm developed by VSB in Poland. Located in the Silesian municipality of Pietrowice Wielkie, the Racibórz wind farm is now supplying renewable electricity with a total capacity of 41.6 MW.
Floating wind developers scale back as confidence drops amid delays and financial barriers

New findings from Westwood Global Energy Group indicate that developers are becoming more cautious about floating offshore wind, citing delivery delays, policy uncertainty and investment risk as key concerns. Westwood’s annual Floating Offshore Wind Survey, based on responses from 166 stakeholders across the global floating wind supply chain, shows that short- and long-term growth expectations have declined. Participants included engineers, developers, investors, government bodies and supply chain actors.
New vessel design proposed for floating wind installation in UK waters

A consortium led by Morek Engineering has completed the first feasibility phase of an innovative vessel concept designed for the floating offshore wind (FLOW) market. Based in South West England, the group includes Solis Marine Engineering, Tope Ocean, First Marine Solutions and Celtic Sea Power.
New system offers continuous cable joint monitoring for offshore wind and grid applications

Synaptec has introduced Greenlight, a monitoring system developed to provide early warnings of faults in cable networks before they result in failure. Greenlight enables automated, continuous monitoring of all joints and terminations across a cable network. It is designed to replace manual inspections and reactive maintenance with a more efficient and predictive method suited to offshore wind farms and high-voltage electricity transmission systems.
New study warns of major risks in Germany’s current offshore wind auction model

A new study by the Offshore Wind Energy Foundation highlights significant risks associated with Germany’s current offshore wind tender model and quantifies them for the first time. Conducted by Enervis Energy Advisors, the analysis concludes that the existing approach to offshore wind area allocation could have long-term negative economic and energy policy consequences.
Over 6,500 new offshore wind jobs needed in East of England by 2030, report finds
