Heerema completes foundation installation for Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms

Heerema Marine Contractors has completed the offshore foundation installation campaign for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. Using the semi-submersible crane vessel Thialf and around 35 support vessels, the company installed 100 monopiles, 100 transition pieces and two offshore substation jackets.
ematec expands RBC-D offering with rental option

Acta Marine’s service operation vessel (SOV) Acta Gemini has started a long-term charter agreement supporting RWE’s Sofia offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom. Operating from Grimsby, the vessel will provide offshore accommodation and walk-to-work services for technicians and specialists involved in the commissioning and future operation and maintenance of the 1.4 GW project.
Iran war has mixed impact on energy transition

The Iran war has had varying effects on the energy transition, with higher fossil fuel prices and energy security concerns supporting renewables and electrification in some markets, while limiting the shift away from fossil fuels in others. This is according to BloombergNEF, which has assessed the impact of the conflict six months after it began. In Europe, renewables now supply 35% of electricity across the five core European power markets, compared with 24% in 2021. This, together with lower electricity demand, has helped reduce the impact of higher gas prices. Germany has responded by increasing onshore wind auction volumes by 12 GW, while BloombergNEF expects other European markets to maintain or increase their renewable energy ambitions.
DNV appoints AI and Innovation Manager

DNV has appointed Rob van der Spek as AI and Innovation Manager for its Industrial Services business unit, a newly created role focused on expanding the practical use of AI, digital tools and innovation across inspection and assurance services. Van der Spek previously held the position of Digital Innovation Lead at DNV. In his new role, he will identify and scale practical AI and digital solutions across the business and in client projects.
Coli Group completes transformer transport project for Baltica 2

Coli Group has completed a six-month transport project for GE Vernova, moving 14 large power transformers from its factory in Türkiye to a job site in Poland supporting the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm. The cargo was transported across three voyages on three separately chartered vessels, marking the second collaboration between Coli Group and GE Vernova’s team in Poland.
Draka name to become part of Prysmian brand identity

First monopile installed at OranjeWind offshore wind farm

The OranjeWind project has successfully installed its first turbine foundation (monopile) in the Dutch North Sea. Installation of all 53 monopiles is expected to be completed by early 2027. The foundations consist of monopiles without a transition piece.
Goldwind to supply 78 MW for Metristepe wind farm extension

Europe on track for record wind installations in 2026

Europe installed 8.8 GW of new wind capacity in the first half of 2026, putting it on track for a record year. WindEurope now expects 24 GW of new wind capacity to be installed by the end of 2026, following high installation activity over the summer. The industry is entering an expected ramp-up phase towards annual installations of 30 GW in the 2030s. Germany led installations in the first six months of the year, with 3.4 GW, while Denmark, Poland, Portugal and France also recorded significant increases. Ukraine installed more than 400 MW despite the ongoing war.
