deugro’s airfreight department transported 162 cubic metres of time-critical equipment from China to Germany on nine consecutive direct flights, supporting continued production at a wind turbine generator and component manufacturing facility. The shipment comprised nine Stator Pack Mach Steel units with a combined weight of 74.25 tonnes. The heaviest unit weighed more than 7.5 tonnes and measured 346 × 346 × 148 cm. The dimensions were close to the maximum capacity limits of scheduled airfreight services.
deugro worked with an air carrier to arrange direct flights, avoiding the need for a dedicated charter aircraft. The original plan was to transport three units on each flight, but changes to the carrier’s loading plan required the shipment to be reorganised. The nine units were subsequently distributed across nine consecutive flights from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Frankfurt Airport.
The units were collected at the production facility in Tianjin and transported more than 1,100 km by road to Shanghai. Customs clearance was completed three days before departure to allow time for inspections and avoid storage charges.
The cargo also required close coordination with the airport handling equipment. The terminal has a maximum loading width of 350 cm, leaving limited clearance for the units, which were up to 346 cm wide.
