WAB calls for changes to German offshore wind tender system
- Details
- Category: Industry News
The German offshore wind industry association WAB has welcomed the draft amendment to the Offshore Wind Energy Act (WindSeeG) as a basis for reforming the offshore wind tender system. The association has submitted its position as part of the consultation process with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. WAB supports several elements of the draft, including retaining the target of at least 70 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2045, a more flexible tendering approach and improvements to grid integration and administrative procedures. However, it considers further changes necessary to ensure that awarded projects can secure financing and reach construction.
US wind market shifts towards near-term project delivery
- Details
- Category: Industry News
The US wind market is entering a critical period as developers accelerate construction ahead of the phase-out of production and investment tax credits. At the same time, the early-stage project pipeline is weakening as developers face greater permitting, supply chain and policy uncertainty, according to Wood Mackenzie’s US Wind Energy Monitor Q2 2026. The near-term outlook has improved, with Wood Mackenzie increasing its five-year forecast for new greenfield wind capacity by 5% compared with the previous quarter. Annual additions are expected to peak in 2027, supported by offshore wind. However, this growth is unlikely to continue at the same pace as developers focus on advancing existing projects rather than developing new ones.

Stillstrom tests automated offshore vessel charging
- Details
- Category: Product News
Stillstrom by Maersk has completed a trial of its automated offshore vessel charging system, aimed at reducing the need for manual cable handling when vessels operate on dynamic positioning in offshore wind farms. The trial of the Stillstrom Offshore eCharger, witnessed by DNV as part of its technology qualification process, tested the system's ability to manage the charging cable automatically from connection through to the vessel returning to position.
CS Wind Offshore uses automated milling machine for transition pieces
- Details
- Category: Product News
CS Wind Offshore has started using a custom-built automated milling machine from CNC Onsite at its facility in Aalborg, Denmark, to produce cable penetrations in transition pieces for offshore wind farms. The machine uses computer-controlled milling to produce precise, clean-cut holes for reliable cable sealing. Each transition piece requires six cable penetrations and 12 pressure relief holes. The latter help prevent structural deformation under changing pressure and rough sea conditions.
