GE Vernova’s onshore wind division has announced that the Abukuma wind farm has started generating electricity following the achievement of its commercial operation date (COD). The 147 MW project features 46 onshore wind turbines, each rated at 3.2 MW with a 103-metre rotor diameter.
The wind farm is part of Fukushima Fukko Furyoku, a joint venture formed by a consortium of nine companies, led by Sumitomo Corporation, to develop and operate onshore wind projects in the Abukuma region of Fukushima Prefecture as part of ongoing reconstruction efforts.
