The installation of all 78 monopile foundations has been completed at Poland’s first offshore wind farm. More than 20 vessels and around 500 crew members and contractor representatives took part in the offshore construction campaign. Baltic Power, a joint venture between Orlen Group and Northland Power, is now moving into the next phase of works. Electricity generated in the Baltic Sea is expected to be supplied to the grid by the end of this year.

The UK government has granted development consent for the 1.5 GW Outer Dowsing offshore wind project, located approximately 54 km off the Lincolnshire coast. The project is being developed by a consortium comprising TotalEnergies, Corio Generation and Arabian Gulf for Water and Energy Development.

Work is progressing on Maasvlakte beach to connect new offshore wind farms to the onshore grid. Grid operator TenneT and contractors are advancing preparations for electricity connections from the IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma, and Nederwiek 2 wind farms. Recent work includes the installation of underground land cables transporting direct current from the landing point on Slufterstrand to the converter stations. With that phase complete, preparations for the subsea cable installation have started.
